has been into Northern Soul for many years, I (Helen) am
quite new to the Northern Scene although it’s not
alien to me, my first hearing of Northern Soul was like
many, in my school years, at the local youth clubs and school
discos in the late 70's early 80's. Of course by the 80's
the mod revival was on and because I had friends on the
scooter scene I got to hear more rare and quality Northern
Soul, unlike all the commercial soul that was about around
the end of the 70's...........and that as they say is our
history.
We
always say we are into SOUL whether it be Northern, Tamla
or a bit of Modern we don't care, it is all the same to
us, although Rick does tend to like his Oldies. We both
go to venues open minded and have been suprised in the past
with sounds we've never heard before or haven't heard for
many years, well it is only a night out, but we do enjoy
the company of most people we know on this great scene that
is......NORTHERN SOUL.
